ONGOING ISSUE: bogus over quota warnings -- We continue to experience occasional problems with QUOTA-GUARD messages being sent to accounts that are well under quota. Normally this automated message is only sent if an account is approaching its email quota (20MB for most accounts). In rare instances, email bounces because the system thinks the account is over quota. This seems to be most likely to occur when users copy themselves on an outgoing message. The bogus over quota state apparently corrects itself within a very short time. Our systems staff has been investigating the problem, but since it appears to lie with the mail server program itself, options are limited at this time.
ONGOING ISSUE: Email Virus Advisory. You may receive a message from a plausible-looking Prairienet or UIUC address like support, postmaster, register, etc. that warns that your account or email is about to be terminated or suspended. It will ask you to open attachment or to go to a Web site to 'verify your account details'. These are virus-generated messages with forged senders.
Prairienet will NEVER send out messages to members that 1) ask you to 'verify account details' on a Web page or 2) come with an attached file..
Please make sure that your Windows operating system, anti-virus, and anti-spyware programs are kept uptodate. New problems are coming up on an almost daily basis now.

Prairienet offers mySQL database hosting as a fee-based service on a per project basis.
Standard and Advanced Web Hosting accounts may request a mySQL database for a one-time setup fee of $25.
Individual membership accounts, Basic Web Hosting accounts and Information Providers receiving fee waivers
are not eligible. An additional yearly database hosting fee may apply in the case of higher-traffic databases.

Beyond basic setup and systems support, use of mySQL is not supported by Prairienet Tech Support.
We reserve the right to deny requests or to deactivate databases judged to be using too many systems resources.
We are running the most
current version of PHP. PHP is accessible to anyone who wishes to use it.
However, its use is not supported by Prairienet Tech Support.
